This looks set to become a great meet :)

I hope so..... I put quite a bit into this one, I hope I have not bittern off more then I can chew..lol

And the list of Attendee's is growing, hopefully we can run loads of intersting things to do... we got lots of time to play this time..

Just need some names against activities and run them... :).

I'll be running number 6 (Dyneema/Amsteel stuff) since I have plenty of it, and the tools to make stuff with it.

I can certainly help out with natural shelter building, though I wonder would the landowner have issues with us cutting live saplings and ferns (used for keeping rain out, and insulation of course)? I've built a lot of natural shelters over the years (granted I've only built one in the last... 7 years or so... but like riding a bike, right?)

Fire lays and lighting methods I can help out with, too (hell, we could all take a stab at friction fire methods if anyone wants to?)

Obviously you're the right guy to take the lead on spoon carving (apparent from the last meet)

We could make the group meal preps a sort of learning thing, to an extent anyway. In the very least I can teach people how to do a proper stir fry with absolutely no oil or fat of any kind (beyond what's in the meat, anyway) and without burning the wok ;)

I'm assuming we're not going to be given hunting/trapping rights for our time there? Otherwise, I could do a few sessions on various kinds of snare/trap and hunting methods (slingshot mostly). That said, if we were to do a hunting session, people would need to bring noiseless hunting clothing (nothing worse than trying to hunt with people's clothes clanging and clinking the whole time).

We could do a session on tapping birch trees for sap (and plugging them properly when done). Beginning of May should give us the kind of weather we need to get a good amount of sap (given the late winter).

Just throwing ideas out here... anyone feel free to jump in at any time!

Perhaps the activities can be run on a collective basis as you say as and when we have the essentials dealt with. Happy to have an input on a basic demo of a one man/two man natural kennel shelter but then again this all depends on the available wood stock. i would be loathe to start hacking about any trees and so maybe we can see what is available on site. I'm sure someone - Simon- would be happy to champion the tarpology demo as he seems clued up on this. Simon? Any other takers for a fire laying demo etc.? Come on guys poor old Stu can't be doing it all on his own, he's getting on a bit now:)

Ah Sorry Simon has already posted re my above references (it always pays to read the whole threads details). The reference to hunting clothes being required to prevent clanging and clinking made me LOL- is anyone intending on being dressed in chain mail.

3 Nighter Monthly Suffolk Bushcraft Meeting 3rd to 6th May 2013

This is a new site that I have not seen...

For those already in the list please can you amend.

The charge is £10 for the two nights or £15 for 3 nights, (if you want to stay 1 night then I am afraid for this one, it will still be £10 the cost is being dictated by the site at the mo..) - I have just had to pay a Deposit to secure the site... so I hope its a good one... I will collect payment for the site as you arrive in Cash please.

We will be allowed to glean Wood from the site,

There will be a Saturday Night Group Meal, made this time by Kirkland as he has offered, he is offering a Curry, Thank you for the offer Kirkland.

Simon has offered to do another nights Meal as well..Thank You for the offer Simon.

(The Group meals are normally supplied but the person making them then the cost is divided between the participants.)

Please say which you would like so the guys know how many to cater for..

This is in a Woodland that is not camped by anyone else, , The toilets and Water will be back at the farm yard where there is also a shower - approx a half a mile away depending on site chosen. I am meeting with the farmer to look at the possible sites....It sounds like I have the choice of Three yet to be confirmed..

This is going to be wild camping in a real woodland not on their main Campsite.... "Access to or very near where you’ll camp, depending on the weather, is possible. There is a hard, all weather track to within 25 yards of the area I had in mind for you to make your camp".

Of course Photo's and the Micky being taken is compulsory ....

And Fluffy Hot water bottles/slippers are welcome.....

Also don't forget, people do bring swaps and items for sale so a meet can be a great place to get some kit..

If you plan to attend, then Paste and Copy the Whole Post and place name on bottom of list, adding also if you require the Group Meals, and how many nights your staying.

If there is any activity you would like to do, just add it to the list, hopefully someone will be able to help, or you could show someone what to do.. :).

List of Attending/ Meals
1. Big Stu - 3 nights - Curry - Simons Meal
2. SJStuart - 3 Nights - Curry - Simon's Meal (obviously)
3. Roman - 2 nights definite maybe 3 - Curry

8. Crosslandkelly - 3 nights - Both meals. Can I bring anything for the pots.
9. Richard Stansfield - 2 nights - From Essex Outbacks

List of Activities - Can people please champion the activities, to be done on a as and when basis..

Thank you for your support in championing the activity's, I will ask if we can make shelters, and keep the cutting down to a min , saying that there probably will not be much greenery this time of year so the cover for a shelter will be floor debris..

Its also good that people will take part in the running of activity's as this will promote ideas an the passing of knowledge

1. Spoon Carving - Big Stu
2. Natural Shelter Building
3. Tarpology
4. Fire Lays & Lighting Methods
5. Use and Care of Sharps

I agree Bigstu. Shadowbush wood looks the best one for us. I wonder if that little blue line is a small river where we could get water from.

Should be a great trip.

Spoke to Tony on the Blower today, he's coming but not sure what days, yet, his going to try to get Friday off.. and I am not sure about Toby..

I would love to come but no exaggeration I'm doing 14 and 15 hour days at the moment 6 sometimes 7 days a week and will be for at least the next 3 to 4 weeks. As soon as I can get this big job out of the way I can start actually having a life hopefully. I'm gutted actually as the itinerary looks great and I'm disappointed I'm missing it.

You need to add a "Clone-a-matic" to your workshop, my friend :)

Would if I could, but I've got to finish going through my company books for the tax man (I hate it when petty things, like life, get in the way of what really matters, like bushcraft)

Dont know what you got to coomplain about I been in battle with the Tax man for about 8 years now... to do with a large rebate..... now thats a pain and gets in the way...
