i had one of my customers pop round me workshop, he wanted to have his pack pimped, lol, he wanted me to line the edges with leather, i chose premium calf leather for this task, he also wanted me to go around the top lid, but on this paticular type sheath it is elasticated and i advised him to leave that the way it is, as you need that for hugging the pack when full, now on something like my vulcan you can do the lid to and it looks fantastic, its a bit of the old with the new.
i added him some leather pull tabs to.
i done this all by hand, every stitch with awl, and a lot of patience, needle and thread.
hope you like it.

a pack that had a bit of my treatment by lucky_lee, on Flickrhe then asked me to make him a sheath for a knife he bought, as the sheet that it came with, had started to come apart in places.
he wanted a western type sheath for this, and to be in a deep dark brown, so i took the shade down a couple, and made him this.
hope you like it.

Nice job, you ought to add those pictures to the pimping thread Lee.
Thanks Gary, did not no there was a thread like that.
if a mod can move this, that is fine with me.
its your pack that gave him the inspiration I think,, and the Duluth and that sort of thing, enjoyed doing it mate, and will do mine when I get the chance, as not only is it aesthetically pleasing it also adds some protection to the edges.
His pockets are shaped different to ours, so I made the joints so that the pocket behaves the way it did before, i put the leather on if that makes sense bud.
take care.

Lee that looks awesome, and it gives me quite a good idea for getting rid of some leather scraps in the future.
By the way I love those pull tabs, any chance I could get a closer look on those, cause I really like that style you did there, and might want to so very kindly steal the concept, so I could work it into a some nice pull tabs for my own bags.
The leather edges really give something to the bag, I love it
Yours sincerely Ruud
