I haven't got the Snugpak model but I do have 4 Berghaus Mules which are a similar design (ie with ruck style harness). I can testify to the usefulness of having the back carry option. Mine are no good for yomping 5 miles, but for being able to carry 320 litres (one on back and two in hands) for a short haul they can't be beaten.

For big loads I use one or 2 of these 157litres and well over 100lbs fully loaded, never been brave enough to weigh it.

Metolious El Cap, its a big wall haul bag, very heavily made but reasonably comfortable (considering the weight being carried) when loaded.
