Methanol vs. Methylated Spirit

Has anyone compared both to see which ones burn better / longer etc?

for me and im no expert, meths burn better for some reason, methanol does not burn quite as well, it may have a higher water content, meths is a mixture of ethanol and methanol normaly 50/50 mix, methanol will burn well though if its what you have or can get cheep as chips use it...

The energy content of methanol is a little lower than meths but not enough to worry about, I only use methanol these days can't say I've seen a difference and at less than a quid a litre it suits my pocket.

didnt think there was much in it, i know some people have had problems with methanol, i used it for a while when i got 205 lires for £80...

Good price lannyman, I paid IIRC £15 for 25l and then £17 for another £25. I'll use it this winter in a Heatpal in the tent. You can get 25l delivered for about £30 off ebay so still cheap as chips compared to the price of meths even if you buy meths in bulk.

yep it was a few years ago, and i had to go and pick it up, i used the work van so that cost me nout...
