    Synthetic bags - brands

Wich synthetic sleeping bag maker do you recommend? My (very) old generation Ajungilak bags are showing age. Todays Ajungilak bags are not an option, even Nanok mil line seems to be out of market. No price limit. -5 to -10C (but probably need more than one bag). Thx.

    AustriAlpin adjustable GT Cobra

As a replacement for my Nexus waist belt buckle I tried an AustriAlpin GT Cobra (polymer), both sides adjustable. Unfortunately it doesn't work. The perpetual motion unloops the webbing. And the constant need for retightening is not acceptable. I contacted AustriAlpin (nice guys) and they...

    The not cooking

Are there many of you out there not using anything to heat food or water? I reduced more and more of the cooking section. And on long walking trips I drink cold water and eat cold food. For weeks. (Always a shock: hill station coffee - two in a row.)

    MysteryRanch NICE 7500, pocket sizes

Hi, testing a NICE 7500 from Dana Gleason I get an impression of the different pocket sizes. Maybe this is of interest for somebody. -The two long pockets on the outside are big enough for a Hilleberg Akto + ThermARest: double tentpoles plus extra segment wrapped in a ThermARest ProLite S and...

    Lowa Megacamp

Some experience with the latest Lowa Megacamp (bought September 2010): The eyelets/hooks were not waterproof. No Lining on the inner side of the hooks. No water protection from the middle eyelet/hook upwards. And an uncomfortable amount of water breaking in. I know, how to seal it, but the...

    ullfrotte socks - shoe size

Thinking about the next pair of shoes. Normally I wear ullfrotte knee-socks, and now I want to buy boots for an extended trip up to 6000m. The knee-socks are made of 600g material, and probably will not be warm enough (?!). 1.If I choose the ullfrotte arctic socks (800g): warm enough...

    oats

One of the two dishes I have on tour is (my dictionary says:) groats or gruel. But the grinding is difficult without my kitchen-grinder. Any idea how to do it on tour? The little pepper mills don´t work. I don´t want to take some kind of oatmeal, because the grain looses protein from the...
