When going through this forum i keep noticing the irony of it all.
Lot's of people view Bushcraft as a way to get closer to nature, learn skills used by our ancestor and embrace the wee man inside that want's to smash stuff with axes and other sharp stuff and burn stuff.
The idea of getting...
My feet sweat like mad tried everything. It causes incredible pain after walking any distance even after changing socks loads.
I've tried synthetic and natural socks and find that socks with a good wool content plus a synthtic wicking material is best for me but i can't get footware that...
Is there any way of making the bowl without having to by a curvy knife thing?
I could obviously just knock up a rough thing with the point of my knife but it wouldn't be very good.
I was thinking i could just knock up a bowdrill and use friction to make a bowl.
Is there an obvious solution...
Was fishing with my great grandad this morning and he has a small 3" full tang knife he says was made by a company in Sheffield called Mastertown.
Though this knife was given to him by his dad and him by his dad according to my great grandad which would make it over 100 years old.
Mastertown...
Ma wee boy turned 4 today so me, my dad, my grandad and my great grandad took him fishing, which he loves.
After 8 hours of fishing the wee man caught a wee salmon looking thing and the rest of us caught nil lol.
Good morning out.
Anyone recommend something bushy i could make cheaply?
Already got a Bucksaw and soon to have a hobo.
Also i made something quite cool. I seen something similar but it cost a fortune.
Get the stick out of a clipper lighter and replace the standard flint with a tiny bit cut of a ferro rod...
Imagine that you have just finished watching trainspotting.
Afterwards you decide to put some new linen on the bed. So you decide to flip the matress, as you do.
Staring back at you under the matress is a metal spoon, and a syringe plus some alchohol wipes and a small brown rock in the bowl of...

Bought it a while ago but not had the oppurtunity to play with it.
It's about a 5 and 3/4'' blade and has a lovely feel and a comfy handle.
I bought it completely on looks and imulse lol.
Don't know who makes it or anything.
Any...
Tried to touch up the blade on my victorinox huntsman and succeeded in bluntening it lol.
I used the smooth side on my DC3 and sharpened like a full flat grind blade, is it full flat ground?
It kind of looked as though it changed angle just above the edge.
I'm looking to do some snaring but don't have a scooby where to start.
What is the legality?
What kind of wire can i use?
What can i snare?
Where can i snare?
Where is the best place to put them?
What's the best method to make a snare?
Cheers
I went on a bit of a rampage a few days ago about how i thought that a SAK huntsman was the biggest piece of crap going.
I probably thought this because i struggled to get the blades open. I kept looking at it thinking what could i use this function for and came up with very little. After...

Bought one today. What is everyones thoughts on it? They are legal EDC?
Would prefer a leatherman wave but i'm liking this now.
Not near the same level as a leatherman but a leatherman has locking blades.
The homeless.
I can only ask you that if you see somoene begging( something i never had to do thank god) but don't give them money, if you wan't to give them a cup of tea or something to eat that would be amazing and believe me a lot of them will thank you for life. In my experience (though my...
Why do you take an axe?
In a summertime 3 night camping excursion for example i honestly cannot see any practical Need for an axe.
You could use it to take down dead standing wood but a laplander or bowsaw would be faster and do a better job plus it's a lot lighter to carry in.
It's good...
