Replacing my ridge-line for my tatonka tarp and im trying to decide on thickness & length for the line. I noticed thickness has been discussed before but...

What thickness and length ridge-line do you carry for your tarp?

My length is too short at the moment. I understand some of you dont use a ridge-line at all, and some use webbing/tape instead of rope/cord. Webbing works well I hear, any comments on webbing from those that use it?

See I was thinking maybe something thicker than 5mm this time. I've not used anything wider than 5mm before, so I think I'd rather be in a shop and feel the quality and weight etc. of a few different types. Any idea of a rough length to your supplied DD ridge-line? Cheers.

I just bought some line from this guy on ebay. He did 4 20m hanks in sizes 3mm, 4mm, 5mm and 6mm, I bought it to see what I got. Quite pleased, some of the colours aren't too good but overall pretty useful 80m of rope and reasonably cheap.

My DD tarp line is about 7m, but 10m would be a better length IMHO

Cheers,

Alan

The site claims it comes with 7 meters and from memory I'd say thats about right :)

for my tatonka 3x3 polycotton tarp i use 10m of 7mm accessory cord from HERE, second from the bottom and yes that is the actual colour, that's the only daw back, althought not as bright as the 3mm i use for the prussic's :naughty:

I can vouch for its almost blinding colour, It can be seen even at night.:D

I think I`ve got about 10m of 5mm on mine at the moment, I find it gives me a bit more choice of trees to use than 7m that`s all.

Related subject, I now use a toggle one one end of the ridgeline reason being that this allows me to put the line around a tree simple overhand knot and pull tight really quick easily adjusted up or down.
It works for me curious to know if anyone else has tried this method.
