Original early British Mk II steel helmet, clearly stamped to the underside of the shell:HBH 1938. HBH denotes Harrison Bros & Howson Ltd of Sheffield, an early manufacturer of British Mk II helmet shells.

The helmet has an old black painted finish and retains its period liner and elasticated webbing chinstrap.

It is being sold exactly as found and has not been cleaned, repainted, restored or treated. £135 includes UK Postage. REDUCED now £80, including postage UK.

Condition

This is an approximately 88-year-old helmet and consequently shows considerable age-related wear, including scratches, paint loss and areas of surface corrosion. Please see the photographs for the exact condition.

The liner is still present but is extremely dry, brittle and fragile, with cracking and deterioration from age. The cord/drawstring which held the liner sections together has broken. I have deliberately made no attempt to repair or replace it, preferring to leave the helmet in its original unrestored condition.

The chinstrap is present and also shows age-related wear.

Because of the fragile condition of the liner, this is being sold purely as a historical/collector’s item and not as a wearable helmet.

The photographs form an important part of the description, including a clear photograph of the original HBH 1938 shell stamping.

An interesting and increasingly difficult-to-find early 1938-dated British Mk II helmet, offered in untouched, unrestored condition.
