Anyone tell me what this is and if safe to use for eating or drinking from? Has a nice smell when carving or cutting, very lose reddish bark and quite wet when carving, probably what gives off the smell.

It looks quite knotty, I'm going to say one of the pines or possibly Cedar?

It is a pine but not sure which one so wanted to check before poisoning the family lol

I might eclude cedar for the bark. The scales seem to be too large to be cedar. But it's a resinous one for sure.
