Wood I.D please

Hi guys,

A friend just dropped over a salvaged piece of branch as he knew I wanted to make a carving bench.
I didn't see the tree it came from but am reasonably sure it is oak.
Anyone able to confirm or advise otherwise?

It is dwarfed a bit, should make a good sturdy carving bench though once I pick up some suitable branches for legs!
