After doing my first spoon at Bushcraft ventures I'm keen to have a go at a Kuska. Spurred on by Kepis two I have a question. When wood carving does the wood have to be green or will seasoned wood do?

Green wood makes it so much easier, if you stop carving for a cuppa or when you stop for the day, put the wood in a plastic bag, it slows down the drying process and stops the wood splitting

I like to use freshly cut birch,to be honest I've never attempted seasoned wood.

I've only managed a couple of half decent kuksas though and several spoons.

green - if you stop for the day, pop it in a plastic bag and put it in the freeze - suspends drying and stops mould developing.
my freezer is full of axed out spoon blanks
