Wood burner question

Would I need heat/fireproof hinges or will just cheap ones from b&q work?

Cheap steel ones will do but you'll want to make sure they don't rust in storage.

Also will I be ok to burn directly onto the bottom plate or will it burn through seeing as the core of the fire is hottest. Shall I try and make a raised up platform for it? Almost like an ash pan?

If you make a little grate you can at least replace it easily if it burns through.
