Yes indeed it is
it should be about the same length as it's user as it better distributes your weight on the snow then it works on all kinds of snow, even boggy areas in the summer when you want to stay on top of the soggy stuff!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Its a design used by Mors Kochanski, by using two cross pieces the saw becomes more rigid, less flex and twisting of the frame and blade.
