Willow basket question

You can use many things for making baskets - my favourite is brambles!

Old thread but need to make a new handle for our log basket. Chose a few bits of willow that are all well dry by now. They're weighted down inside the waterbutt but with the bark on, they'll take a few days to soak fully.

I have been cutting the odd whip in the wild - the bark comes off really easily and is quite therapeutic to do so might prep a few bits to dry out - I imagine with the bark off and in this sunshine that would happen quite quickly...

Here's the one I made, first and only attempt.

Wow, this is great! I will not show you mine though As it's already lots the handle and now used as flower pot.... Fairly any use at all.

Great thread, I've learned useful tips. Need to go and dry some willow as I stack them in a pile on ground and I think they started to by now....
