Wildlife hatchet

Gransfors Bruks Wildlife hatchet or Wetterlings Wildlife hatchet, is there any advantage (beyond price!) of one over the other?

I've got a Falkkniven S1 and a GB SFA already, but i want something smaller for chopping tasks.

I've already decided that i don't want a kukhri, parang, golok, machete or billhook - it has got to be an Axe.

So, any suggestions?

cant say for the wetterlings but the gransfors wild life is fantastic fits in a pack well and is a plesure to use :wave:

You can't go wrong with a GB Mini for small chopping tasks. For a small hatchet it packs a punch and can be carried very easily. Not cheap though.

It probably comes down to personal preferance really. I prefer the wetterlings as the head has a good wedge shape which is great for splitting..... on the gransfors the bit is ground thinner..... they can still both do the same jobs and are both are great hatchets.

My advice would be to try before you buy see which one suits you :biggthump

I got the mini and find it a little small for chopping so im thinking of trying the wildlife.

Great for scraping rabbit skins before tanning ..............

or slicing lime's for the Corona :wave:

Id go for the GB there just a nicer axe all round IMO allthough they will both do exactly the same job bearing in mind

If you don't mind the extra bucks, I would go with the GB Wildlife. Better quality and finish. But the Wetterling is still excellent bang for the buck. The bit on the GB is wider and the head is shorter. This makes the head less likely to turn in the cut. I also like the straighter handle of the GB. Either is a great tool though.
