Noggin the nog has come close to the mark there, but having read all the above comments, I can't help but agree with ALL the reasons.A knife it the basic,simplest empowering invention of all time. Civilisation followed,as fire was probably mastered after the ability to cut things.Today everyones ultimate knife would be a marriage between ultimate utility and aestetics in the eye of the beholder.
