I treated myself to a Barbour Duracotton Parka jacket yesterday. Got it half price and i am over the moon with it! fits like an absolute dream and feels extremely durable! I think it will be a trusty companion for some time!

Just wondered if any of you use them and if so how do you find them?

I have one, it was a hand me down from my Old Man. I don't use it that often, mainly just for walking he dog through the local woods. But I do like it.:)

Had one for many years, great jackets but a bit heavy, but waterproof if manufacturers guidelines are properly followed. I love it and as CG says they really start to come into their own at this time of year. Love the fit, the pockets, plus the new accessories like the fleece inner make it really toasty. My only crib with my latest one is the colour, I'm not so keen on the blue, unfortunately it was the only one in my size they had at the time plus it was on sale.

I know what you mean about the fit! as soon as i tried it on i knew i had to have it. i probably would have bought it even if it was full price to be honest it fit that well. I love the amount of pockets. this one has hand warmers , fleece lined cuffs and is actually machine washable aswell. Its also olive green and was the only one in my size:D

Fate i reckon!!;)

I've got two; a Beaufort which is midweight and generally used for dog walking or anything else and a Durham Flyweight which is ragged to hell. I got it in 1990 before Goretex was issued and still wore it in the field after it was issued! It's as tatty as a ragman's bugle but it's my spare Bushcrafting coat after my SASS ventile.

I love Barbour, but, if your active, the mid weight waxed cottons can be a bit sweaty. Also, they are one of the few clothing items that look better the more worn they get. Mine have so much 'personality' it's only the stubborn understains that are holding them together!

I've had my Barbour Border for about 7 years now. It gets an awful lot of hard use during the shooting season, especially when I'm beating through the heavier cover.
Apart from the "right fit" I love its durability and the number of roomy pockets.

I've worn Barbours for the past 25 years, invariably the heavyweight quality (Northumbria, Moorland) and I practically live in them. The older they are the better they feel & look.
I wax them regularly and that add's to the remarkable life expectancy.

More recently I see a shift to 'trendý products' and suspect the marketing people have taken over the brand. Fortunately I bought some spare's (the ones with no logo's all over te place) 10 years ago when a shop had a foreclosure sale.

I've also worn them on and off for a number of years. International is my waxed coat of choice both in town and country. I also have a tweed coat, boots and polo shirts, didn't pay full price as there is a outlet shop at the factory in South Shields. Wax once a year to keep it waterproof and use a hair drier to heat it and force it in.

I've a Stockmans, but it usually only gets worn if I'm expecting rain. It's a bit to heavy for everyday use. I do love it though. It's kept me dry in some fantastic storms.

I wore a waxed cotton Barbour for many, many years.

Now completely converted to ventile. More breathable, lighter, quieter and more comfortable.

Could be something to do with not shooting or beating anymore mind you. For heavy going in ridiculous conditions not much can touch a Barbour.

I have a waxed cotton waistcoat which has been used pretty much every day for work and play in the last four years. Waterproof, thorn proof, and takes stacks of abuse - has its own distinctive smell and looks rough enough that it is unlikey to be stolen in a pub. Good hip pockets allow me to fill up with all sorts of stuff - tinders/dog biscuits/firelighting kit/small water bottle and a few boiled sweets etc. Other pockets- after a few tailoring mods - allow me to deep stash a small legal carry folder, ferro rod, bit of paracord, compass and whistle - general get me out of the kack survival stuff that is always there. I even managed to put a few rabbit snares and a wire saw inside the flap that covers the zip after unpicking a few stitches. Final mod will be to sew in a small interior pouch along the lines of a poachers pocket across the hips for storing a space blanket and small slim FAK then I'm done. Being olive green in colour it gives perfectly adequate camouflage for stalking and shooting. As "established country wear" I find it not only functional but also more acceptable to strangers who are wary of somebody stumbling out of the bushes in full DPM looking like a serb paramilitary. £20 from my local farm supply store.
