I disagree about mora hook knives being "crap", that is rather misleading and unhelpful. However I would admit that the 164 is an evil accident waiting to happen tool.....I have found the other 2 (162/163) to be extremely usable, although admittedly I did need to fettle them to my personal preference. But they cut clean crisp and chatter free, once I learned how to read the wood, and needing only stropping to maintain a "swann norton" edge (thats all they've needed ever since and I use them a LOT! My one criticism of them is that the handles are a bit small.
More recently I have been using a haida type bent knife blade for hollowing spoons (in conjunction with an elbow adze or big scorp) It is working very well for me. Its like having a mini mora blade on a 2 inch extension arm.
