A cheap diamond sharpener plate then Micromesh will get you as sharp as you can get at a fraction of the price.

1.99 from ebay, does what it says on the tin.....finish with a stropping if you like. the thing is do you really need a polished fine edge, NO, most people would be very happy with 600 grit finish if not 4-500 and would not notice the difference.
