They use X55CrMo14, and at roughly between 52 - 54 hrc, based upon threads I read ages ago for the hrcI think they use 12C27 which is pretty good steel. They should only heat treat it to 59-60 and it would be fine.

I see you are not familiar with the likes of Roselli's UHC.I think you should take out the ease of sharpening from the list. There are two major factors making sharpening easy or difficult and these are the knife-edge geometry and the abrasive used.
I have sharpened enough different "difficult to sharpen" steel to stand behind my words.I see you are not familiar with the likes of Roselli's UHC.

And I see that you ONLY met with UHC steelsI see you have not met UHC steels.
A lot of others on a career of structural and materials engineering. Some really fancy ones on some satellites and rocket engines. And a few more on 60 years of handling knives. And I see that you ONLY met with UHC steels
if i understand correctly the condor bushlore is (more or less) a copy of it and since a few months there's a stainless steel version as well...A bog standard remake of the Wilkinson Sword Woodlore in sonething stainless.
A better option would be an Alan Wood - he has made woodlores in various steels, including damasteel.if i understand correctly the condor bushlore is (more or less) a copy of it and since a few months there's a stainless steel version as well...
I have just seen that, 14c28n steel and called the aqualore. I am a little tempted.....if i understand correctly the condor bushlore is (more or less) a copy of it and since a few months there's a stainless steel version as well...
As they has become established, quality control has improved significantly. So a reasonable upgrade in steel, handle material and sheath, this looks to be the first upgrade that the thread wanted.that's the one i was referring to -- it's on my list of potential candidates to replace my beloved robbed F1, but i've heard mixed things about condor's quality control in the past, no idea of that's still the case...
I see they've also done a 1095 version called the darklore. But added a fuller to it unfortunately.I have just seen that, 14c28n steel and called the aqualore. I am a little tempted.....
am i the only one who wishes victorinox would upgrade to a steel with better edge retention?
That handle will get mucky in no time, so don't let that stop you. As for the sheath, it's the right choice for a stainless steel in my opinion.I like the steel upgrade of the aqualore but don't care for the bright blue handle or kydex sheath. Seems you can't have your cake AND eat it.
You’ve been having a go at those bl**dy dragons again I know it!
