I had never heard of the Strid and now have a strange desire to see it but I realise its gonna just look like a burn from the outside and after reading that I have no desire to explore further

It's not that exciting mate, we used to jump over it regularly. We used to gather at Bolton Abbey every Sunday when folk started passing their driving tests when we were youths, disposable bbqs and long hot summers, happy days

Thanks for that. Pretty interesting stuff but I am a geologist and never got a free flight to the African rift, just got shown pictures of it. Probably the safer option espeically if it wants to eat you.

The Burnsall to Bolton Abbey stretch of the Wharfe can hold a body very well -- there are a number of deep pools and lots of tree roots. Unfortunately it usually claims one or two victims a year.
