Taking some annual leave (a week) starting the 19th of October, I'm in six minds, depending on the weather, to do a spot of camping and walking or fishing somewhere around the Lakes...Somerset/Dorset area, sea fishing Wales, or visit the Peak District, one place I've only ever passed through.

What would you do and are there camp sites that I could try out a hammock?

Stick a bit more fuel in the motor and head north of Glasgow, somewhere round the Trossachs or Loch Long/Lomond area. Could get lost in the woods for a few days very easily up there.

You could very easily do the Peaks as a weekend trip from Liverpool, If I had a week I would use it to go somewhere I couldn't do in a weekend. The lakes has plenty to keep you going for a week.

I have thought of up there too, Shewie, I've camped in Creetown and around Holy Loch, I've looked at a few sites around Glencoe which appears a beautiful, scenic area but I would imagine it's a trap for the clouds.

I'd be interested in specific areas, done parts of Windermere, Ullswater and Esthwaite in the past.
