Whens the best time to dig up celandine roots?

I think that waiting until after flowering makes sense, as the plant should by then have stored all the sugars in the tuber to get it through until next year.

If you want them now dig them now!
I have loads in my garden but can only find them when the flowers are out!
The trick is to grub up a patch as soon as the first flower shows as a locator - the others are at the maximum point of "full of goodness"...
I am not all that keen on them...I find them very bland and not realy worth the effort of digging, cleaning and roasting.

Don't forget it is a wild flower and you should seek landowners permission, otherwise you are breaking the law!
