I like it!

Don't forget the anti zombie kit.

We all used to have survival tins in the 80's, my tobacco tin these days has tobacco, filters and fag papers in it LOL.

Not got one myself but was thinking of putting one together, just wondering what you guys have in yours.
hokay, here goes:
1x blue bin bag wrapped around the tin itself
1x short webbing strap, holding the binbag in place
1x roller locking tin (larger than a tobacco tin)
1x peice of folded A4 paper, with emergency details written on one peice - waterproof paper would be a better choice
1x mirror (cut down from old washkit mirror) - looking to replace this with a proper signalling mirror
1x sewing kit (needles, thread, saftey pins, pins, couple of buttons)
6x chlorine water purifying tablets
1x condom - if you can, find some extra heavy non-lubricated. I couldn't find any, so use a standard one
1x packet of stormproof matches
1x wire saw
1x small folding knife
1x pencil - from ikea
1x tea-light type candle
1x compressed cotton ball coated in vasaline
1x whistle
1x button compass
1x disposeable butane lighter
4x saftey pins of assorted sizes
1x length of thin, high strenth cord (sourced from an old life raft fishing kit)
several lengths of picture wire (as snares, or extra construction gear)
1x space blanket

note that I have no fishing kit. my figuring is that in the UK, I'm not going to be that stuck, for that long, that I'm going to need it, and certain parts seem determined to evade me (realy small barbed hooks, for example. my local fishing shops only had barbless in the sizes needed.)
on the other hand, getting stuck for a single cold, rainy night is a serious possibility, so fire and shelter are my primary priorities, with water being a handy extra.

closest thing I have to a bug out bag is probably my car kit, which is really aimed at A) car related emergencies (jumpleads, warning triangle) B) First aid and C) singular unexpected nights away from home (primarily in the event of being unable to drive through drink)

£50 cash, credit card, mobile phone. Why do you need a survival tin in the UK, you won't starve, you will be rescued.

Ain't got one as I don't do survivalism, I've never been in a real survival situation either & have no plans to drop myself into the Alaskan wilderness for the forseeable future, but if ever I was in one, it would take more than a little tin of christmas cracker toys to get me out of it.

They don't exist, fact. if you found yourself in a "SURVIVAL" situation, you wouldn't have a tin off things, as if you did you would be just extreme light weight camping. it's the same with "SURVIVAL" knives, they don't exist, any knife labelled as such would be sat on the shelf as a conversation piece while you were off extreme light weight camping, Because if you had a knife with you you would no longer be in a survival situation, you would be Bushcrafting, by that I mean with a knife you can make you life very comfy indeed.

Having said that, "SURVIVAL" tins are fun to build and look at, even if it's from a "look what I can fit in this" point of view. so here's one of mine, not for a specific environment( remember you need to tailor you kit to the environment you will be in) just a box of fun.

pelicase from Ultimate "SURVIVAL" it is a kit in itself, I have added to a taken some of the bits out.

Left side: one handed blast match(sprung loaded ferro rod, designed to be still usable if one handed), very load twin tone whistle, mini kit(expanded later), Pencil, sharpening stone(very rough to quickly repair edge, can use a pebble for fine edge) heliograph(it's also a mirror for bite/parasite checking).

Right side: small stainless fine edged lock knife( easy to use and repair( though will replace with a small fixed blade when i find one that fits)), hand chain saw(cuts through 10cm hard woods in under two mins, not going to cut anything much larger than that). both sides lined with rubber non slip mat, hold the bits in place as well as catches fire from a spark and burns like inner tube.
