Hi all

I have temporarily moved to a new place and have a fruit tree in the garden - I was hoping someone could help me identify the fruit.

The fruit appeared a few weeks ago and is slowly turning from a dark green to a blue/ purple hue (and getting larger obviously).

I think they are a type of plum (maybe Damsons?) but my mate thinks they are Sloe Berries due to the size.

I have attached some pictures including the whole tree - can anyone help or give me any advice on how I could find out?

thanks for any assistance

regards

Roy

Fruit are currently slightly smaller than a squash ball but still growing as far as I can make out. Leaves are 3 inches long and 2-3 inches across approx at the widest point

Picture taken this morning at North London/ Essex border

cheers!

too big for sloes, and no thorns either. could be damsons or plums... but because they look ripe now, I say damsons.

Damsons for sure.

Damson jam is nice or you can make gin with them.
Sloe's tend to grow on very scraggly bushes.

Plums have an indentation that looks like a bum when you pick them. :D
