Well,
I took the family out to Worsley Woods today. We (missus actually found it and I ID'd it
) found some Jews Ear fungus. I found some wild garlic (Ramsons) and had the kids taste it (blew their taste buds for ages
)
Early this morning I took the dog out in the local woods (Colliers Wood) and found a nice bracket fungus, I brought it back and using Roger Philips' Mushroom book ID'd is as a blushing bracket (Daedaleopsis confragosa) and discovered that despite it's size it has no bushcraft use whatsoever (I am as always willing to be corrected).
I also collected tinder from some catails which I was going to try it out this afternoon but didn't get chance
.
Matt.
