Crikey! - I know moras are good but heck that is one clean cut and it still looks sharp!
Seriously though I have no idea re the steel suitability but I Know Wayland has made pots form cast calor bottles so I guess the gas should be no problem.
I don't know if it's safe or not, but I did hear of Stephen Venebles making one in the karoakoram on a mountain face high up when he knocked his only pan off the ledge he was bivying on.
I don't see why not, Teno. You could stick the tin in the fire to burn all the paint and stuff on it first, as it may be toxic or at least give bad taste to water and food. I have used ordinary tins to make billycans and stoves.
The page that you linked me remembers my survival instructor, Mario Pereyra, from Argentina. He teach us to build cookware from scratch, using mostly food tins.
Thanks for the info!
Marcelo
I believe that the canisters are coated with either a laquer or a plastic to prevent corrosion in storage. You may want to burn this off before you cook in it or eat from it.
