water based leather dye, how am I best to approach?

Hi All,

I have some water based eco flo that I'd like to use to dye a couple of sheathes and a zippo pouch. There seems to be lots of conflicting information on the www about what the best process is for using this stuff.

Any tips greatly appreciated, but generally my questions are:

1 - When during the construction should you dye?
2 - How wet if at all should the leather be?
3 - What should you use to apply the dye?
4 - How best to get an even (ish) colour?
