You would have to be very unlucky not to find a hair in there, get on thee hands and knees and have a gander next time :)

Looks more like where a deer has had a roll around, rather than a 'bed'. The grass is all squashed in one direction and not pressed flat to the ground, indicating that it wasn't there long. Usually where they have bedded down for a while the grass is bent in all directions, and the grass is more squashed. Good call though, and you should certainly find a hair or two in the brambles on the edge....

Certainly at this time of year you tend to find large chunks of hair about. However, I tend to find droppings in or near areas where dear have laid down for a while and can't see any in the pic.
