If you can't get one, boil a normal one in tea or coffee. Both are rich in tannin and are in themselves substantive dyes. That just means that they'll fix themselves.

Just wondering why you would want "a jack" in any other colour than red white & blue. Not having a pop, just wondering.

I use subdued union flags on my uniform and kit.

Uniform. It's for the same reason we don't wear shiny buttons and red tunics anymore. They were just coming out when I was in Afghan about 4 years ago - I think they're issue now.
