a little while ago i saw somewhere on this site a member giving the addy of an organization that finds volunteers work, or advertises people looking for help in return for bed and board, whilst travelling....trouble is i cant find it now .....a mate of mine is interested.....any help would be appreciated , thanks

Soulstar, check out http://www.helpx.net/. Its mainly revolved around learning craft and agricultural skills from what I can make out, but it seems to have a great deal of variety. I haven't ever met or worked for anybody but I have read good things about it, give it a look.
