VOTE NOW :: Grand Final - BcUK Photograph of 2018 Competition

As the early winners of this years heats will tell you the Grand Final of this years photo competition has been a long time coming but it's finally here and you have to now decide on who's the overall winner for 2018.

Whoever wins this heat will be the overall winner of the BCUK photo competition for 2018 and will win a year's free full membership on the forum and a T-shirt. They'll also be asked to nominate the theme for Octobers heat in the 2019 competition.

I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who entered, without you doing so it wouldn't be much of competition.

I know it's going to be a hard decision for you to make as all the pictures here are all winners in their own right but you've got to now pick one so without further ado here's the entries.

I’ve voted and as has been mentioned already it was a hugely difficult decision!

Rubbish you may shout..... you had an entry, so obviously you would choose yourself!! - but no, how could I choose mine when there was so many other cracking photos

The photos are all excellent, they all appeal, they all beautifully show some aspect of the places and the wildlife and countryside life that we all so appreciate.
This was a really hard choice.
I wish I had more votes.

The photo competition remains my favourite thread and I thank all involved whether organiser or entrant for the pleasure you have given over the years.

I always vote, mainly to show my support for the thread but I share the views about the difficulty of picking just one out of a consistently high standard and the problem of judging on subject matter versus technical quality. It must be dispiriting to receive no votes yet quite often I find an entry that has received no votes is one which I dithered over selecting as my vote. Would it be possible to change the voting system to order of preference rather than just one vote? Hopefully this would mean more votes and encourage more entries for us to enjoy.

Agreed. Personally honour means I just can't vote for my own. Nothing to stop others doing otherwise, but not me.

I looked into doing that last year and unfortunately minimum order numbers and upfront costs didn't really make it viable.

It sounds a great idea but sadly not possible with the voting system that we have on the forum.

I can do things like multiple votes, voters changing their mind and recasting their vote and making the results secret until the vote is over but there's no option for a first, second and third place vote.

I'm thinking of offering 2 or 3 votes and making the results secret for next years competition just to freshen things up.
