Vintage French canvas smock - id?

Picked this up today for swmbo. Not unlike a Swedish snow smock in design.

Inside one of the top pockets....

Simple press-stud volume adjuster,

It has draw cords at waist and hood.
anti flap strap like the snow smocks.

A thick-ish canvas material not unlike my great coat.

I've never seen one like this. At first when I saw it, I thought ventile cadet smock, then as I picked it up I knew it wasn't as I used to have one......and gave it away

So? Anyone else seen or had one of these and know if it is indeed french? And was it a pre synthetic para type thing?

Looks like it is post ww 2 and definitely french. Would be a good alternative choice to our snow smocks :thumbup:

Had a looksee in French (google) & found nout but with a label like that, chances are it's more civvy than military.

Definately military. They made French paratrooper uniforms circa 1947 possibly earlier. There's an American military vintage site with info.

Jammy bleeder, thats how I want my Swedish smock to look, with chest pockets.

Swmbo is the jammy one, it didn't fit me.
