A "deposit", is where the buyer pays a % of the total cost now to secure the item for themselves and then pays the rest later (in this case on Tuesday) when they have the money in place to pay.
It's just a simple way to show the seller you really are going to buy it so they don't sell it to somebody else before you are ready to make the purchase.
