Hi guys and gals,

I am looking to upgrade my cheap and nasty vacuum sealer (the type where you use a hand held battery operated pump to suck the air out from a hole in the bag) to something that uses bags on a roll instead.

What I'm wondering is if anyone has any experience with this type of vacuum sealer and if you can recommend a good budget option.
Ideally I want to make my own boil in the bag meals so any advice on what bags would withstand being heated in water without tainting the food or melting would be great.

All the best, Hamster

Hiya,

I use a JML with bags and rolls from ebay and it works fine for me. I think it was about £30 and copes well with most of what I throw at it....

Neil

PS I picked it up from Asda

Thanks Neil, I had seen these when i was looking at options. Does it properly vacuum pack food into the bags as i know some of the cheaper ones just suck a bit of the air out? Also have you tried it with any liquids in the bags when sealing (im thinking the juice from baked beans etc...) as this is the sort of thing im planning on making.

Cheers, Hamster
