Uses for bamboo?

Nesting area for red mason bees? There's masses of variation of designs on google images but a bit of pipe with loads of cut sections of bamboo for them to get into does the trick. Worth poking the pith so there's space for them to get into though.

We're planning on making bug boxes - using plastic tube is a much easier idea though, as my woodworking skills are limited!

I've just looked at a YT video about river cane (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44EeQCIVo6Q) and it looks different to mine... the mystery goes on!

Yeah the cane in that video looks different than I'm used to seeing too. It looks shorter; maybe a younger canebrake? Or could it be a slightly different species? I've read that th
ere are several subspecies even here in the South.
