The individual shown (who shall go unnamed) brought this Chinese copy of a US WW2 hammock with him on his first short jungle excursion; this photograph was taken just after he had put it up for the first time.
Some time later that evening when we all retired to bed, he lost control of his hammock and performed what witnesses described as an interesting sideways summersault. Inverting the hammock and dropping its occupant into the roof, which slowed his fall momentarily before he met with the ground having taken a good portion of the roof with him.
(For those of you wondering why there appears to be a second tarp rigged over the hammock, this is because the built in roof of the hammock was found to be as waterproof as a teabag and before anyone points out the second tarp is too small and doesnt actually cover it all.... its the only tarp he had to hand )
