US Jungle Hammock

The hammock is $9.99USD about £5.50 plus postage from the states. If its anygood it may make a future group buy? Used A1 condition, I'll post more when it arrives
If you mean the genuine US Army hammock, M1966, I have used one quiet a lot. There is another one modeled after a WWII US military jungle hammock that has a built in rainfly and netting. They are pretty heavy and not very good at all. You will likely rip through it overnight!
The M1966 is very narrow, about 2.5ft and short, about 7.5 ft. The width is the main problem, hard to stay in comfortably. It has some toggles to button on a US Army poncho as a rainfly, which works well. The hammock is a little heavy due to packcloth type nylon. Mosquito netting is whatever you can rig up.
There are many hammocks out there that are far superior and much more comfortable. The Mosquito hammock, the Pyramid hammocks and the DD hammock are all far superior. They do cost a bit more though.
You can sleep in the M1966, just take care not to fall out. As for the "US Army type Jungle hammock with the netting and attached fly, well, I guess you can survive awhile in one. Cheers!

Ah, that is the M1966 model, not too bad, just a bit narrow. Never fell out of one, but I have known others who have. At any rate, much better than that "WWII Type Jungle hammock" sold at many places. The M1966 is a bit of Vietnam era gear that was a big improvement over earlier attempts by the US Army to make a jungle hammock.
I still have the M1966 I used in Panama and Honduras, a good starter hammock. Hope you like it, good price BTW. Cheers!

The individual shown (who shall go unnamed) brought this Chinese copy of a US WW2 hammock with him on his first short jungle excursion; this photograph was taken just after he had put it up for the first time.
Some time later that evening when we all retired to bed, he lost control of his hammock and performed what witnesses described as an interesting sideways summersault. Inverting the hammock and dropping its occupant into the roof, which slowed his fall momentarily before he met with the ground having taken a good portion of the roof with him.
(For those of you wondering why there appears to be a second tarp rigged over the hammock, this is because the built in roof of the hammock was found to be as waterproof as a teabag and before anyone points out the second tarp is too small and doesnt actually cover it all.... its the only tarp he had to hand )

I had one..Got it for free...I went through the bottom and onto the ground.It was a tad dry rotten.......Tossed it after stripping the para cord from it..I found it much to heavy for what i needed it for.......
