Hi,i have just picked up my new US Army bivi and was wondering if i needed any special gear to reproof it,i use Nikwax Tech Wash+ Wash in on my old UK bivi and Goretex gear,i don't want to screw up my nice new toy if it is not compatable, need to reproof it as i am off on Dartmoor at the weekend so not too sure how it will be without a treatment.

It will all be exactly the same- wash/reproof as you were for the british bivi bag..... If it is new and not just new to you, i doubt you would need to proof it though?

When I got mine I just used it in appauling conditions straight away. It never let a drop in and I've only reproofed it once in over 3 years. It should hopefully be fine from new, have fun!

If it is the real US military Gore-Tex bivy it will have a tag that says it was made by Tennier Industries.

Just got back from a brutal wild camp on Dartmoor, the bivi worked a treat and it does have a tennier label, some of my mates could have used some king size tena ladies to sort out their midnight leaks

They're heavy and bulky compared to others but they really are bullet proof. I've used mine in all sorts of conditions no end for a few years and wouldn't be without it. Glad it worked out for you.
