Yew berries are great. Quite a surprising fruit.

I’ve eaten loads of weird things on expeds. Many species of snake, spider, turtle and allsorts. Probably raw cobra heart in Borneo. That was gross. But the local guides weren’t to be offended. Even though we were there as conservationists and supposedly recording new species and promoting snake conservation. Things have changed a bit now. But not much.

Dried tarantula bodies taste gross too. CLEM of this site will attest to that vileness. Takes a few days for the taste to be forgotten.

Love eels. But wouldn’t eat wild caught now. Which is saying something as they were plentiful years back. My grandad caught and cooked me one by the riverside when I was very young. I was fascinated. Had woodlice too. Similar taste to shrimp, which is what spider legs taste like too.

Being a fisherman, I guess you’ve gorged on signal crays?

Have you tried garden snails?
