If you don't want it, don't bid for it. Its no different than an early vinyl where you can buy a CD of the same recording for 1% of the price. Some people want the original. Doesn't do it for me personally I'm more function than form but different strokes for different folks - you might as well ask why a Picasso costs millions when someone can paint an indistinguishable copy (at least to my eyes) for a few hundred. Its worth what someone will give you for it. No more or less.
Both very nice Knives, I personally would much prefer a Shing for £150ish and buy a nice watch with the change, But like British Red said its different strokes for different folks
A wee admission - I bought a couple of Alan's knives on eBay, but they were ones that he's not currently making ... the early version Woodlore and a Tamarack Woodlore (infact that was from the same seller as this particular auction - a very nice man to deal with)
That's my excuse for using eBay
It's not just Alan Wood's knives. Different things have went to new heights recently. For example a mint 'rod in hand' logo Hardy Perfect fly reel would set you back over a thousands pounds now. I got two only a few years ago for something around £100 each.
As far as the bubble bursting, I can't see it. People will pay this and in my opinion good luck to them - it's their choice.
