I’ve been really lucky to be back and forth to Ontario in the last couple of months and wanted to report on the Two Dogs Ventile and Wool Smock that Cliff made for me.
When I came over at the end of November to hunt Whitetail it suddenly turned unseasonably cold. I hadn’t packed for this and the Ventile and Wool had been a bet between waterproof and a warm outer. Wearing it with a fleece or technical base layer, a Swandri Ranger shirt I was good to be sat in a tree at -20C with windchill to -25C for upto 3 hours when I was glad to be out of the high seat. Didn’t get too sweaty walking back to camp but I would consider it too hot for stalking. It was good on the snowmobile though and the generous length is great for riding.
I’m currently Ice Fishing up at Lake Nosbonsing. We have had windchill down to -39C and the smock has been a God send. Riding the snowmobile in this kind of cold takes it to another level. The smock has kept me warm throughout and shrugs off the snow pitched up by the machine in deep powder.
Really great bit of kit.
