The three old gits made their weekly foray into to the depths of the Sussex countryside again today, had a grand old time as per usual, was very warm & humid all day with low cloud and mist rolling in to cover the hill tops now and again, also enjoyed a bit of rain this afternoon as well, few pics
The hill top disappearing into the low cloud
one of the spots we visit, this one we know as 32C
Looking back along the north face of the Downs
No Jack, we cannot make all of these into sausages
got to our spot and Hugo set up his new hammock, made it himself and it's superb, very strong and very comfortable, we christened it "The Chrysalis"
We also decided that it was about time we made some 'home comforts', the first job to make a simple table to get all of the cook gear up off of the ground to minimise the risk of it tipping, so we made a table from wood we found laying around and lashed it all together with Clematis vine
the table top was again made from fallen timber
so table built and hammocks set up
it was time for a brew, one of many during the day
looking down slope to our camp area
Looking through the woods
Hugo whittling
time for another brew
beginnings of a new carpet, the blackened area is a small smudge fire made with cramp balls to deter the mossies
getting on in the day and time to head out, past some great fungi
then up the slope, collecting some Wild Strawberries on the way
also took time to admire the Pyramid Orchids
Low clouds obscuring the hills again
looking back towards the woods and what looks like a storm coming in
finally past some Woody Nightshade on the path back to the car
Superb day out, practiced a few skills, did a bit of carving and of course, lots of laughs and mickey taking, just the way it should be, remember Hugo, Bold Strokes mate, Bold Strokes.
