Trees & plants on DVD

Firstly, sorry if this topic is already listed and I've missed it.

I've spent lots of time over the years reading books about edible plants, and about the various types of trees & their uses. I appreciate a book is nowhere near as good as the hands on approach adopted on a training course, in saying that they have learnt me a lot. Trouble is I'm getting married next year so tthe missus isn't keen on me forking out a couple of hundred on a week (or even a day for that matter) away in a forest under a piece of tarp!

Anyway, I've come to the assumption that the next best thing to a training course is a DVD, whilst books are good and full of pictures I think seeing someone describe one rather than reading it is going to be much more help.

So anyone know of any decent DVD's or video's about that might help my cause?????

Just started the Wild Food School Distance Learning course. Very nice. CD Roms variously contain loads of big, clear photographs of each plant, several for each one, drawings and beautiful illustrations from various sources. Texts (and illustrations on paper) are very informative, cite numerious sources and provide personal experience which is always a plus. Things to do, where to look, medicinal values, recipies to try etc. All good.

Yeah, you could find all this stuff in the numerous books on the market now, but I really like the way there is a Module for each season so you learn about particular plants precicely when they're about. If you get Modules 1 & 2 (spring and Summer) together now, however, they are currently available at £25 for both. It's on going from what I can tell so each time round there's more to learn.

Excellent tip, Paganwolf. :)

I totally agree. The course is without doubt the next best thing for those that aren't able to make it to the various courses that are held across the country. I have the same material as FerylSheryl (module's 1 & 2).

The only thing I would like is more 'real' pictures of the plants that we are learning about, as opposed to sketches that are contained on the CD-ROM.

However I've found that using the following site as reference and adding prints of the pictures to the Wild Food School coursework makes it a superb learning/reference material.

Hope it all helps.
