sorry if this has been done before but does anyone know where you can get a set of tree huggers from without having to buy a hammock?
cheers

I made my own from 1" polyester webbing, I sewed a loop in one end that goes around the tree and then clip the webbing onto itself with a krab, I then tie the webbing into a marlin spike hitch around a sturdy stick which I loop my whoopie sling over :) Just to make clear, you loop the whoopie sling over the knot so it's bearing the load and not the stick, the stick just stops the knot pulling through :)

You can get polyester webbing in loads of places for not much too.

Those eno's are highly adjustable but proper heavy and quite stretchy, from what I can gather, they are not universally loved on HF.
Polyester is the best stuff for straps, its got hardly any stretch.
Paul Gibson from Arrowhead equipment makes and sells really light straps with a good rep on HF. They only weigh a couple of ounces compared to the 8 oz for slap straps. They come in camo too.

I can sew you a set out of some Vectran-core webbing if you like, they are zero stretch and the webbing is rated to 2100kg. They weigh 28g/m plus the overlap for the loops and the thread. PM me if you want them.

I made some long huggers for my Hennessy a few years ago, I used some 3" wide herringbone seatbelt webbing and just hand stitched the loops in the end. I used some strong polyester thread and double sewed the joins with a union jack shaped pattern. I gave them to a 19 stone pal who's still using them five years on.
