Took number 1 son metal detecting for the first time today

Found lots of scrap, I was impressed he stuck at it for an hour.

These are the finds we chose to bring home.

Looks like we've got a cast iron gate latch, a ferrule from a shovel a bit of shrapnel and something hollow, pointy and chrome painted.

The field we were in is near an old ww2 airfield.

Nothing valuable this time but good fun.

Cheers

Hi, had a go myself couple of years ago, found lots of old rifle bullet cases (prob WW2) and the brass part of spent shotgun cartridges, loads of pre-decimal coins mostly pennies, small amount of old jewellery nothing particulary valuable, once found £13 all in £1 coins around a single oak tree in middle of field, i found silver paper and ring-pulls to be a real nuisance, found an odd small lead figure of a bird about 2cm in size.

I've had a detector for about 20yrs, & never realy used it, other than to check trees for nails when i've been getting logs, & to keep our children(when the were little now 24 & 27)busy on the beach.
