And a question for Wayland: What kind of awl is the bottom one?

a diamond awl/lacing fid i think?

The bottom one is a blunt lacing fid.

I use it for marking and also for opening a stitch on a return track if necessary so that I don't cut the thread already drawn through.

I'm not sure about getting away with it. I have a toolbox full of kit I never use, this is the stuff that does the job.

Here you go.

Nothing particularly pretty about it but this is what I use for most of my leather kit making.

If I've got a lot to do I'll take the whole bundle but if it's just for small jobs I leave the big reels and one of the needle cases and it all fits in the leather tube case.

nope you're right i see nothing pretty about that at all
