I cast a glance over this topic on BB every so often.

I wondered if Bushcrafters only drink their own brews ?

I brew, but, tonight I'm drinking Wychwood's Circlemaster :D Quite tasty

cheers,

I thought Wychwood made Hobgoblin :D

As is fairly well known I brew as well, however today I had a pint of El Dorado in the Hampshire Bowman - third best pub in England (and in walking distance too). Sadly no-one else will find it as its a Bowman ale - made in their own "micro brewery", Any pub with a stone flagged floor and a couple of lurchers snoozing in front of the fire that brews its own ale and does a stonking "pork and watercress" sausage and mash can't be all bad :D

Now that sounds like a pub I could really really get to enjoy!

I tidied out on of the sheds last week and found a dozen bottles of assorted ales left over from the New Year  there were two Hobgoblins in that stash....Lidl's buy 4 and get a 5th one free just now. :)

Maybe I could have titled this, "What's your favourite Homebrew ?"

cheers,

Bernie,

I have indeed - not a bad drop at all.My favourite was another local one when someone did a molasses based porter. It was practically a food group and not for the faint hearted but a real proper pint of "Heavy". :D

Toddy - my favourite homebrew was amde from 8 lbs of"glut" raspberries. Juiced and fermeted they made 4 bottles of wine that was pure fermented raspberry juice. It sounds a bit odd but imagine the taste of that bit of juice in the bottom of a bowl of raspberries. Now make it boozy, chill it ice cold and drink on a hot day with a sprig of mint.

Next raspberry season I'm going to make some more :)

Bernie - old enough yes but not Hampshire enough - my "growing up" drinking was in the second best pub in the world (the Warren House Inn on Dartmoor)

That must have been a long walk home ( unless you were in a tent ;) )

tonight I'm finishing off a mixed bottle of sloe gin and sloe vodka from last year :D
( i couldn't work out why I had 2 bottles on the go, so i poured them into one bottle... then remembered why  - it's not bad though.. :1244: )

Eds and his SWMBO had sloe whisky with them at Loch Tay, and it was very good, so I made some and it's sitting slowly mellowing in the pantry........son2 keeps asking about it  He drinks malt and I think he just wants to prove his Mother is a philistine :D

Twas a fair way - but yes we regularly camped and bivied around Fernworthy and indeed at the old mine workings down the hill from the Warren Hosue. We also camped at the waterfalls above Postbridge and walked down through the woods. Always via the "clapper" bridge though - which is still amazing to me now :)

I used to camp near nun's cross farm, and walk up to the Plume of Feathers in Princetown for a beer or two..

...always took longer to walk back to the tent :1244:
