Ummmm.... You probably don't want to hear this, but I suspect such an item may be illegal...

Scottish Statutory Instrument 2005 No. 483 - The Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Offensive Weapons) (Scotland) Order 2005

1. Section 141 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (offensive weapons) shall apply to the following descriptions of weapons, other than weapons of those descriptions which are antiques for the purposes of this Schedule:

[...]

(o) a disguised knife, that is any knife which has a concealed blade or concealed sharp point and is designed to appear to be an everyday object of a kind commonly carried on the person or in a handbag, briefcase, or other hand luggage (such as a comb, brush, writing instrument, cigarette lighter, key, lipstick or telephone);

There are equivalent SIs for England, Wales and NI.

Darn!... I'll wear it when I'm miles from other people... at appropriate tie-related bushcraft events..

I wonder if I can get away with "its a tieclip disguised as a knife".... prbably not..

well it's hardly disguised or hidden is it? - guess it will be more of a job to justify wearing it.....

still would like one though! ;)

nope looks like a pen knife to me
has a side clip on it like many do
I assume its under 3" blade and non locking so if you didnt know it was a tie clip as well you could have it in your pocket etc
obviously a Copper could pull you up on it and if in doubt he would get the courts to decide (not his job)

I think his desk sergeant would decide for him. If you got a copper that dim, of course.

It's a knife disguised as a knife.

Good buy, by the way :D

Silkstone, Blighty!
You'd need to be nicked and searched for it to come to light anyway, so why was you burgling that house in your nice whistle and flute with tie pin?!!

Not likely is it!

If you were stopped, you would tell the officer.

It looks, no offense, useless.

How could you sharpen a pencil with that.
There's no way that could be used as an offensive instrument.

I like it all the same.
Maybe even more because it's not very practical!

It's a nice tie clip.
Wear it without fear because you couldn't cause fear with it.

P.S.

Just don't wear it going into an airport.
You won't get it back, probably.

Although, I went into the Japanese Embassy in London with a pair of scissors and a SAK waiter in my rucksack.

They spotted it in the machine and I handed them over.
I got a slip and when I left I got them back.

Next time I went, I just handed them the SAK and I got the slip.

No probs.

If you're dodgy people know.

A copper would use his discretion.

I guess I just get a bit para what with looking like a disreputable hippy anarchist type... An alarming number of people seem to think long hair + beard = dodgy.

Sensible advice for, unfortunately, difficult times... My 74 yo father had his SAK card confiscated at an airport, most disgruntled, but secretly pleased to be thought a potential menace, but those are the rules....
