Thanks for the comments folk.
They are buckets, containers, bags, whatever you want to call them and they can be used for many things, nut and berry collecting for example.
In the wilds without the use of your kit bag this would be the way to go - creating your needs from the environment. Yes, the one on the left is ash although it
does not fold as well as many other barks but it can be utilised in another way - this is a ash water bucket (below) which I will line with pitch when I get the time.

Really impressive - an inspiration as usual.

Would it be best to wait until the spring when the sap is flowing before trying this or do you think it would be easy enough to remove the bark at this time of year still?

Thanks for the kind comments Stew, I prefer to use Ash and Leylandi in late spring - early summer, I find the bark to be more fibrous then, as time goes on it becomes like a brittle pulp.
