The River Cottage Treatment

Tuesday 17 July
8:00pm - 9:00pm
Channel 4

The first of a new series in which Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall invites a group of urban dwellers to spend a week at his River Cottage headquarters. In an effort to change their reliance on convenience food and the cheap chicken products they enjoy, Hugh exposes them to the truth behind factory-farmed poultry before encouraging them to care for his own poultry flock. His aim is to have them bond with the birds that will, by the end of the week, constitute their dinner.

it is a fun program to watch, if only to show how detached most people are from their food.

on a somewhat related note, i still wonder what would happen if you would send hugh and ray out in the woods for a week. both gents love a good meal :D

`Bond with the birds that make your meal`

um, is that a good idea? I dont think many fowlers/poultry keepers would eat their birds if they did.

To quote a nasty anime;

"Birds are FOOD, you dont make friends with your food"
